3711.0. "Key bindings for LK401 keyboards" by COSBY::TIBBERT (Lee Tibbert DTN 227-3220) Fri Nov 23 1990 00:25

	I believe that X distinguishes in some cases between
	left and right shift (and between left and right alt).

	I borrowed an LK401 keyboard and plugged it into my
	vax 3540. The left shift key seems to work OK but
	the right one is ignored (that is, it leaves things
	in lower case).

	I believe that there are probably some binding
	definitions *somewhere* that I need to fix, but
	I can't find them. Could some kind soul please
	give me a hint? (I'm running DW3 IFT)

	Since this happens in both text widgets (Mail create
	window) and DECterms, I'm asking here.

	(Yes, one would reply could be "If it hurts....".
	I like trying new things, like keyboards)

    Please submit a QAR with full details.

	QAR 589 entered.

	It appears that right shift, right alt, right compose
	and left alt are unbound. Left compose and left
	shift work. Haven't found any other funny keys.

	guess that I get to exercise my left pinky for a while.

3711.3User error (blush)COSBY::TIBBERTLee Tibbert DTN 227-3220Mon Nov 26 1990 18:0815
	Most of this is gross user error.

	Turns out that I needed to tell the Session Manager
	that I had switched keyboards. There is a Keyboard
	item for LK401 under the Session Manager Options
	pulldown.

	Now I get right shift, right alt, and left alt.

	Left compose space gives me composed characters
	such as but right compose space does not. I'm
	trying to figure out if this is more user error
	or what before re-opening the QAR.
