Hello :
Customer Scenario :
Dual Host Vax 4000/300, VMS 5.4 (DECW 2.1)
The VAX is a CLIENT in a TCP/IP network.
They want to replace (in certains condicions) an X-server by a local
process (??) running in the same host, that emulates the DISPLAY
environment (data structures, etc) but without fisical terminal.
Is that possible ?
Thanks for any suggestion.

(1) Digital doesn't sell software that does this
(2) With a source kit for the MIT X Window system, this could be
written. It's X and anything is possible.
(3) I, and I assume most participants in the conference, want to know
what business problem is motivating your customer to attempt to do
this and suggest an alternative way to get it done.

Our customer did not explain why he wants to this, but I assume he
needs to use a low speed line (WAN, leased or X.25) and avoid as much
as possible the X traffic over the line.
I can't imagine other reasons. But any idea is wellcome !!
