3693.0. "XResetScreenSaver action : bug or feature ?" by COMICS::BELL (The lunatic is in my head) Tue Nov 20 1990 04:34

XResetScreenSaver still isn't working properly ...

I've seen the earlier notes on using the screen saver (especially 1124.4)
but there still isn't an answer as to why using XResetScreenSaver on a
visible screen results in a blank screen - ie., it seems to perform the
  XActivateScreenSaver without the following Reset.

    i) Is this viewed as another "VMS value-added server feature" ?
ii) Has it been SPR'd as VMS server bug ?
iii) If it was, would there be a timely, useful answer or would it just
       get "lost" ?

Whether it got lost or not might depend on whether the qar was as
    sarcastic sounding as this note.

Our intent is for the server to follow the letter and the spirit of the
X11 protocol. If it does not do this, it is qar-able.

    Thanks for the response Burns,

It will be SPR'd as it is a customer problem - I just wanted to check in
case there was a quick answer, eg., "No, it should do this because ...".

Re. sarcasm : Your perspective is somewhat different from mine - you tend
to get a trifle cynical out here ... not to mention schizophrenic as a
result of trying to convince the customer that Digital cares at the same
time as seeing what happens behind the facade. Sorry if I offended anyone.

    Thanks,
