I've been searching for mention of this for a while and haven't found it.... I just finished upgrading to VMS 5.4 and decwindows IFT V3. When I try to start DECWINDOWS the server process just dies. Once it actually displayed a login box on the screen and even output and ACCVIO message on the monitor but for the most part it just "goes away" the only way I can tell it's an accvio is that I turned on accounting to watch processes and it captures that as its last message. I'm dead in the water right now. Since I haven't been able to find mention of this I assume there is something wrong with my configuration. Doeas anyone care to investigate? Help! greg

If it is truly the server that is dying, then you should see something in SYS$MANAGER:DECW$SERVER_0_ERROR.LOG. Please feel free to post the contents here. However, if the error at the end is an ACCVIO (error status #12), then you should just simply QAR the problem (see note 2). Use the DECW-V3-INTERNAL QAR database. I'm puzzled about the "ACCVIO message on the monitor". If the server dies or LOGINOUT dies, I don't believe you get any message. Are you sure it is the server that is dying, or LOGINOUT? Did you turn on image accounting? | |||||
