3636.0. "decwindows server crashes when exiiting from vcs editor
" by BIS2::VANBLAERE () Mon Nov 12 1990 10:25
hello,
This note is posted in the DECWINDOWS and the VCS notesfile.
The problem comes fom a client who installed VCS for test purposes.
The machine is a 3100 with SPX (20 MB). A patch has been installed to let it
work with decwindows.
We have already let the customer check a number of parameters:
SRPCOUNT > 2100
IRPCOUNT > 1280
RESHASHTBL > 850
LOCKIDTBL > 1800
GBLPAGES > 1500
The problem occurs after the exit out of the VCS editor (decwindows interface).
Decwindows crashes, with the following log:
(I have omitted all time stamp information, and started the line before the
crash happens, this due to the fact that the client faxed the log ... )
Connection 9ae30 is closed by Txport

3636.1 | Fixed in VMS 5.4 | VINO::MCARLETON | Reality; what a concept! | Mon Nov 12 1990 10:54 | 12 |

I reported this problem as QAR 3765 in the V5 QAR database on TRIFID::.
I then tested the same configuration file under VMS 5.4 and had no
problems. The QAR has been closed as "Fixed in VMS 5.4". Have the
client upgrade to VMS 5.4 on the VCS host system.
There is a known problem with starting MONITOR windows from the C3
interface under VMS 5.4. There is a patch in note 877.5 in the
VINO::VCS notes file.
