3635.0. "DECwindows mail problem." by KOOZEE::THAYER () Mon Nov 12 1990 10:19

I'm running a DS3100 with Ultrix 3.1 and UWS 2.3

I'm fairly new to DECwindows and have not yet mastered the
MAIL utility. While it seems like it ought to be straight
forward, I get the following errors when I try to do the
simplest things:

After trying to read a mail message by clicking on Read New Mail
I got the following error message:

XIO: fatal IO error 0 Error 0 on X server ":0.0"
after 367 requests (367 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

The mail window hung and I had to kill it from the DECterm window.
(A hint - the Mail window said I had no new message, even
though I know I had some.)

After trying to Create-Send a message I got the following:

X Protocol error detected by server: BadIDChoice - invalid resource ID for this connection
Failed request major op code 1 (X CreateWindow)
Failed request minor code 0 (if applicable)
ResourceID 0x900086 in failed request (if applicable)
Serial number of failed request 456
Current serial number in output stream 455

The mail window went away of its own accord.

I continue to be able to send and receive mail the old fashioned way via
the DECterm window.

Where do I start?
                                  Thanks, John

I'm having the same problem. I am running ULTRIX 4.0 on a DS3100.
I can't seem to do anything with dw-mail.

Has anyone gotten back to you about this problem?

      Thanks, Jennifer.
