3634.0. "Processes don't start after 7th VUE subprocess (DECW V3 IFT) " by PRAVDA::JACKSON (You run your mouth, I'll run my business brother) Mon Nov 12 1990 08:38

I looked through 3558, 1494 and the other (can't remember which one)
topic, but they didn't seem appropriate for what I'm seeing, hence the
new note.

Since upgrading to DECW V3 IFT (VMS V5.4) I can't get the session manager
to start up more than 7 processes. When I start the 8th one, I get
a warning box that isn't properly constructed (the Ack button is only partly
shown and there is no text below or above it). When I look at the work
in progress output, I find that the process has a status of "Pending"

Any suggestions?

For?

I did mention (or imply) that this has only started since the upgrade
to DECwindows V3 IFT. My UAF entry hasn't changed since I upgraded

Your UAF entry may not have changed, but the contents is more important,
particularly the quotas and subprocess limits. As of V3, the Session Manager
starts processes as subprocesses rather than detached.
