     The outside  company Valid Logic Systems is trying to get there product
called  GED (Graphics editor) to run under VMS DECwindows.  He needs to know
the  DECwindows call to tell him if he has a mouse or a bit pad connected to
the work station.  I think he is on VMS 5.3.

     He said  he  tried  a  xgetpointermapping call which should returns the
number  of  buttons  on the mouse, but it always returns 3 even when the bit
pad is connected.  The bit pad has 4 keys.

     Any help would be appreciated.
