In the Spring '91 timeframe, VMS plans to release new memory management support
that provides proactive memory reclamation from idle processes in constrained
environments. An internal-use-only V5.4 version of this software can be found
in:
BULOVA::SYS$PUBLIC:ATMEMMGT_V54.SAV
If you elect to try it, please send confirmation to me. $README.TXT tells how to
install it, and a release note draft gives a high-level description of the new
mechanisms and their goals. I am very interested in hearing reactions to the new
software when used in memory-constrained non-workstation environments. It has
already been proven over the past year to be a boon to VMS workstations.
