3554.0. "PostScript PrintScreen prob's" by FRSTSC::ERLEMANN (Bedman strikes back) Wed Oct 31 1990 04:37

    Hi,

general question about the PrintScreen feature in PostScript mode.

A customer of mine has just upgraded his LN03 to a LN03R.
Unfortunately, there is no ScriptPrinter SW within the upgrade kit.

So he built a normal queue directly wired to his VMS 5.3 V3100, I think on
TTA2: or TTA3: (I'm no hardware spec.). This queue works fine if he
submits a print from the FileView.

But when issuing a $print/queue... the loadlamp begins to lighten for a
time and darkens with no printout. Same behavior with doing a 'Print
    Portion of Screen'.

Any suggestions what could be wrong?

    Thanks Armin

What is a normal queue? How does he submit a print to this queue? Is the
printer attached to the TTA2/TTA3 ports, or is it another printer?

Deassign the queue to the LN03R completely (including the spool device), and
now try to capture portion of screen into a file (lets say the default
SYS$LOGIN:DECW$CAPTURE.TMP). DO NOT FORGET TO SET THE PRINT SCREEN CUSTOMIZATION
TO BE POSTCRIPT !!! Now try to copy the SYS$LOGIN:DECW$CAPTURE.TMP to the
printer.

But,
The best is to check if your customer entitles to have the CPS product and to
install it. This way he'll be able to print on his LN03R not only Postcript
format files!!!
