The additional software is DECwindows V2.0 Language Variants. It
basically is translated base system stuff (OOTB's, Session manager,
help, etc.). I have the installation guide for these beasties but have
never seen a pointer to on-line kits. I'm not sure how/if a US
customer can get them.

| The product manager for the DECwindows Language Version kits is Gill
Trotman. Gill works in the UK and is responsible for having the
DECwindows UILs translated into 10 European local languages. She can
be reached on VOGON::TROTMAN.
The language kits are not currently made available in the US, but there
is no reason why they couldn't be, and it is an idea Gill has been
exploring. For instance, would making a Spanish kit available to
educational systems be useful? If you have any information on what
languages you feel are most appropriate for the US market, Gill would
certainly appreciate your feedback.

3552.4 | Japanese and other Asian languages | ABSZK::SZETO | Simon Szeto, ISEDA/US at ZKO | Wed Nov 07 1990 08:14 | 10 |
| re .3: Along similar lines, GIA and US Area are working the business
issues of Japanese (and other Asian languages) versions in the US,
although that is primarily with respect to availability to customers.
See Les Dole (AKOCOA::DOLE or Les Dole @AKO) in GIA at Acton, MA.
Internally (only!) Japanese DECwindows can be obtained over the net,
I believe, by contacting the kit distribution site in Japan.
