3517.0. "Frame buffer is not available error?" by TAV02::GAN () Wed Oct 24 1990 07:30

One of our customers is using VMS 5.3 on VS2000.
He is trying to run his application a microvax-3600
after setting the display to his VS2000. Now, running
that way simple DEWCINDOWS applications such as ICO
works just fine. Trying his CAD/CAM application causes
an error message to appear on his VT terminal:

Frame buffer not available

Running the same CAD/CAM application on his microvax-3600
setting the display to some VS3100 works OK.

What does this error mean?

	Thanks in advance

    Is the VS2000 a monochrome machine? The application might require
    a color framebuffer/accelerator, and it may be that the VS3100 has
    one installed.

Sorry that I did not mention it before.
The VS2000 is a color workstation.

3517.3Any more ideas??TAV02::ITAMAR_ESun Oct 28 1990 03:136
    Any more ideas? Are there any sysgen parameters or process quotas that
    are related to this problem?

    Thanks,

          Itamar.
3517.4The CAD system is EUCLIDTAV02::ITAMAR_EMon Oct 29 1990 05:454
    I forgot to mention but the CAD software is EUCLID.
    Does it ring some bells in somebody's head?

    Itamar.
3517.5More info. Please help!TAV02::GANSun Nov 04 1990 07:0216
More info on the subject:

The exact error message is:

*GX INTERFACE .FRAME BUFFER IS NOT AVAILABLE

This message you get on the Decterm where you
type the command that starts UCLID. The same UCLID
on a VS3100 on the same cluster works just fine.
It only fails on a color VS2000.

Does it seems familiar to anyone there?

	Please answer!...
