3508.1 | session manager - customize security | OXNARD::KLEE | Ken Lee | Tue Oct 23 1990 13:55 | 6 |
| The easiest way to modify UWS access control is through the session
manager "customize security" dialog. You can also use the
(unsupported) xhost program or the eqivalent Xlib calls.

| Yes you are right my dear, but what happen if we don't want to login
into the window manager. I think you didn't try to do it, in other
way you didn't answer it.
Would you like to read again our note and try to do it. We think
perhaps you change your mind.

| Hi,
I managed some time ago to display a vms login dialog box on a ultrix server.
I think I used a file called /etc/X0.hosts.
I don't remember the exact syntax in this file.
I think it contains lines specifying nodenames and transport, like
decw$server_access_allowed.dat do.
Hope this help,
Jean-Marc.

3508.4 | The solution at all | LATINA::CARVAJAL | Rafael Martnez, TSC Madrid, Spain | Thu Oct 25 1990 05:25 | 21 |
| We have found the way to use and Ultrix node as a Xserver.
1 - Comment out the line "0: "/usr/bin/login ...... in /etc/ttys
2 - Create a file call X'display-number'.hosts with the names (one
each line) of the hosts you allow to display an application
into your system
3 - Include "/usr/bin/Xmfb &" (Start the Xserver) as the last line
in /etc/rc.local
4 - Restart the system
Now you can execute in Xclient
# setenv DISPLAY node_name:0
# application
That's all folks
Our greattings to SIMON (Valbonne)
