Hi, I have many customers that have inquired me about the X Window System compliance with patterns, they often ask me about OSF Motif and POSIX. Does anybody could give me further informations about X Window relationship with those two patterns in particular ? Thanks in advance for the help, Ricardo

The MIT X Window System is the specification and implementation of a network-transparent window system. OSF Motif is the specification and implementation of a user interface (window manager, style guide, and object library) specifically for the MIT X Window System. POSIX is the specification of a portable operating system. X and POSIX and independent entities. You can have one without the other. POSIX and UNIX are related in that the starting point for the development of POSIX is UNIX. The first implementations of X were on UNIX. OSF Motif is related to X in that X is a prerequisite for Motif. VAX Notes Conferences are devoted to X, MOTIF, and POSIX. |
