    Hello there,
    
    Is it possible to run DECwindows 2.1 on VMS V5.3-1 the reason
    being the fact that DECwindows 2.0 has problem working with
    GKS V4.1. ( I know this has been fixed in VMS V5.4 but this
    BIG customer has to stay on VMS V5.3-1 for the next 9 months).
    
    If answer is YES tell me is there any special installation 
    procedure for it and what kind of potential problems we could
    expect.
    Has anybody been doing this yet ?

	There is a difference between possible, and supported, and a wide spread in between. In this case, it is probably possible (with some exceptions), but it is definitely not supported, and there is no way to do it except manually moving files. What would be the most likely things to break are (1) DECW$LOGINOUT, which depends on the base os quite a bit, and (2) keeping track of all the files you have moved and changed. Not to mention, we would simply not be able to help if this whole thing did not work. How about contacting the GKS folks to see if there is a workaround? Burns
