I seem to have the the problem as Paul (3466.0) but with my colour VS2000. I 
keep getting the colour map full message - but after hours of searching I 
haven't been able to find a way to change this.

Any help much appreciated as this is preventing me from running an application.

	Is it 4 plane (i.e. only 16 colors?). If so, you have a very limited number of colors. You won't be able to go through all your applications and give them separate colors, for example. I don't know of any good way to tell who allocated what, although you can guess by running xshowmap to see what colors are actually in the map. Burns
