Well...
What is it that you are looking for ? Are you looking for a software
or hardware solution ?
If software what type of output do you want, PostScript, SIXEL, other ?
What type of hardware are you planning on printing your output too ? This
will have a lot to do with the determination of which output format you'll
need.
I and others have provided programs that do color PostScript and color
SIXEL.
If you are looking for a hardware solution there are companies like
Tektronix and RGB Technologies that make RGB capture/hardcopy devices. These
devices connect inline to the RGB cable from the machine to the monitor and
capture a 'screen' when you tell it too.
I am of the understanding that Ultrix currently does not support color
captures yet from the Session Manager but will in the future. (Anyone wish
to clarify this ?)
There is/will always be a way to do what you need. Now all you will need to
do is answer all the questions concerning your needs and go from there.
Let us know what ya need and we'll try to help :^)

3404.2 | Better Software solution ?? | FRUST::HAGEMANN | | Thu Oct 11 1990 09:04 | 15 |
| Hi,
I've got a similar request from an customer who is looking for a better
solution to produce colored outputs via the print screen option from
DECwindowns. He's got an LJ250 printer to do the colored printing.
But unfortunately this printer can't print POSTSCRIPT files. So he
receives a very bad quality. So he is looking for a much more better
solution to that. If the sulotion is to use a different printer or any
other differnt hardware, he also is very intersted to get this kind
of information.
So I'ld like to beg you to give me all the information I need to know
to give the customer a good suggestion about how to solve his problem.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and hints.
regards
Pietro

| One of the main quality problems with the LJ250 is the low resolution
of the output. However, its resolution is about the same as the screen
resolution. Printscreen, which does pixel dumps from the screen is
inherently limited and can never produce really good output.
