3387.0. "VMS V5.4, VS3100 SPX login problems" by IJSAPL::WIJNEN () Tue Sep 25 1990 08:42
Hi,
I have a NI cluster, with two CI based VAX's , 1 MV 3300, 2 VS3100 and
1 VS3100 with graphical SPX option.
I upgraded this cluster from VMS V5.3-1 to VMS V5.4.
After this upgrade I have a problem on the station with the SPX option.
It is no longer possible to log in from the DECwindows screen.
This screen askes for a second password, while the accounts do not have a
second password. It gives always a login failure.
With the $ SHO INTR command I always have record with source SYSTEM,
while I tried to login with another username as SYSTEM
It is possible to log in this station via SET HOST
The other workstations in the cluster have no problems.
Any suggestions ?,
Thanks in advance,
Woutri Wijnen
PS I posted this note also in the VMSNOTES notesfile

| Asking for a second password is usually symptomatic of not being able to find
a UAF file (assuming that there is no secondary password set to begin with).
You might try to find out if SYSUAF is defined funny in the context of the
login process. You might try to stop the login process and restart it with
DECW$STARTLOGIN.
