I am trying to startup DEC Windows on a VAX Station 3540. I restored a system image from another VAX Station 3100, and set the SYSGEN parameter WINDOW_SYSTEM = 1, and rebooted. DEC Windows never came up. There was a message during startup that it could not find GBBDRIVER.EXE. I am running VMS 5.4-4f4. Does this sound familiar?? DOUG (*) DTN-392-4713

Maybe it was missing GBBDRIVER? :-) All I can say is that a VS3100 would use either GA, GC, or GE (regular color, mono, or SPX). The 3540 (Firefox) requires GB. If someone cleaned up the 3100 to remove file that it did not require, that might do it. Burns | |||||

re: .0 You also might try upgrading to a "known" version of VMS 5.4 - like the SSB version, which should be available on the net near you... This would probably fix both the "missing" file problem, and get you to a supported state... Mark |
