A customer wants to connect a color printer to his Decstation 5000, he selects the Tektronix Phaser PX Color Printer that supports PostScript Language. Is it possible to send colors images created by CDA application ( DECpresent for examples ) , print a portion of the screen on DECwindows and directly create a PostScript files from XUI toolkit ? ( In other words , files PostScript generated by our applications and toolkits are there color files ? ) Thanks in advance , Sergio Poletti @TNO

I believe that CONVERT/DOCUMENT will convert a color CDA image to a color PostScript image. Last I knew, Print Screen did not do color PostScript, although I have not been keeping up with all the patches and fixes. Does that answer your question? Burns | |||||

The following is from the developer, who does not regularly follow this conference: Currently, DECwindows PrintScreen only produces bitonal PS. The PostScript converter will generate color PS starting in DECwindows V3. So a Convert/Doc or Export of a CDA file to PostScript will generate a PS file that will look good on a color printer. I have tried it on a QMS printer, but not on a Tektronix. It should be pointed out that colored text and graphics in a DECpresent file can successfully be converted to color PS using the CDA PS converter. Only image data is restricted to black & white for pre-V3. Bb |
