3332.0. "DECPaint Grid Spacing?" by ADVLSI::FONTANA (Eric Fontana) Tue Sep 11 1990 11:44

I'm using DECWRITE to write a technical specification. I like to include
timing diagrams within the document and would like to use the paint program
because it has the "snap-to" grid feature that works well when you use the
poly-line drawing tool (you get nice edges). The problem is, I need a
finer grid!!! Is there a DECPaint.Grid_spacing resource or some other way
to change the grid pitch?? Also, where is the "offical" documentation for
DECPaint? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks in advance/Eric

At the risk of stating the obvious: DECwrite has a snap-to-grid feature too,
and it provides selectable grid spacing (selectable from a set of choices,
not continuously variable).

The Paint documentation is in the DECwindows Desktop Applications Guide

I'd highly recommend doing the drawing within frames directly within the
DECwrite document. Not only does it sound more suited than DECpaint for
your needs, but you get a few more advantages as well (no linked to files
to worry about, object-oriented graphics that are easy to reshape, etc).

I do this all the time. DECwrite did a good job of providing drawing cap-
   abilities and manipulation features.

RAGS also has an adjustable grid feature, more drawing capabilities
	than DECwrite, no freehand though....
