3303.0. "ULTRIX V4.0/dxsession/DECnet Phase V question" by GOTIT::harley (Bart's takin' pictures of his butt!) Tue Sep 04 1990 16:33
I'm running the latest DECnet Phase V s/w on a DS3100, and I noticed
that after I set up another ULTRIX system as a BIND nameserver that
DECwindows logins took quite a bit logner (ie, 1-2 minutes as opposed
to 5-6 seconds). My Session Manager security menu has the following in it:
gotit
localhost
shr_v:.dna_node.gotit::0
My .Xdefaults file only has gotit and localhost in it. After a brief
dialog in UPSAR::DNU-PhaseV-IFT conference (note 15), it appears that
dxsession is parsing the PhaseV address as an IP address, since if I
turn either DECnet or IP off my logins speed right back up. BTW, I
created a vanilla account, logged into it without changing any of it's
files, and the same thing happened.
My question: is dxsession creating the DECnet entry for me? If it is,
can I either tell (ask?) it not to, or can I hack my .Xdefaults somehow
to turn this feature off?
Thanx for any help/advice,
/harley
