| Funny you should ask. There is now a fully supported way to do this:

Yes. Just take your trusty VWS V4.3 distribution (now in SSB) and install the
following:
UISX
HCUIS
FONTS
With this, and mind you - from ANY VMS system - you can now use RENDER. Render,
the conversion program for UIS generic encoding, will do EVERYTHING that it
used to do - BUT - now it no longer needs to be on a VWS workstation to do it.
If the output is to be a DECwindows workstation -- then simply install UISX on
the same VAX as HCUIS (note that HCUIS and UISX are both CLIENT SIDE code) -
point SYS$WORKSTATION at some handy DECwindows workstation and BINGO...
Try it. You'll like it!
