3302.0. "RENDER with Decwindows" by BRADOR::EMON (aka FALCO DEFIANCE -> ...and the nightmare continues...) Tue Sep 04 1990 16:18

Can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to display a uis image
using DECwindows. I am looking for a VWS RENDER program for some
images that I have to display on a screen

I would appreciate any help at all

Funny you should ask. There is now a fully supported way to do this:

			***RENDER***

Yes. Just take your trusty VWS V4.3 distribution (now in SSB) and install the
following:

		UISX
		HCUIS
		FONTS

With this, and mind you - from ANY VMS system - you can now use RENDER. Render,
the conversion program for UIS generic encoding, will do EVERYTHING that it
used to do - BUT - now it no longer needs to be on a VWS workstation to do it.
If the output is to be a DECwindows workstation -- then simply install UISX on
the same VAX as HCUIS (note that HCUIS and UISX are both CLIENT SIDE code) -
point SYS$WORKSTATION at some handy DECwindows workstation and BINGO...

Try it. You'll like it!

For more follow up questions, try the VWSENG::UISX notesfile.
