Howdy!
I have a customer on a VS3100 running v5.3 and I tested this problem
on a VS3100/SPX running v5.3-1 and saw similar behavior.
His system has a pagefile of ~15,000 blocks, and PGFLQUO of 15,000
My system has a pagefile of ~33,000 blocks, and PGFLQUO of 25,000
When he does a PrintScreen, and does a SHO MEM before and after, he
loses about 2,000 from the free pages of the pagefile. Each time
he does the PrintScreen, he loses 2,000 more, until either the user
logs out and they are restored, or the system hangs.
I saw similar behavior during my testing, I started with 28,000 free
pages, then did the PrintScreen and lost 5,000 pages each of the
first 2 times...down to 18,000. Then with each PrintScreen it would
drop a little lower (1,000-3,000), but they would be returned and the
free pages hovered around 18,000 until I logged out and they were
returned. Of course my process quickly went to WSEXTENT (6,000) and
stayed there because there was nothing else going on at the time.
Any ideas why the pagefile would be "eaten" and not returned until
logout??

The BYTLM leak is associated with starting applications from the
Session Manager. There is a fix for that problem in the next release
of VMS. There is also a patch available for VMS 5.3.
I haven't heard about the pagefile/print screen problem. Please enter
a QAR.
