3262.0. "Printscreen problem" by MDVAX3::COOLEY () Mon Aug 27 1990 14:26
I've searched this file with 'title="printscreen"' and turned up
nothing on this, so I'll assume (hope) it's not a repeat question:
A couple of users (vs 3100-38, VMS v5.3) are able to do "printscreen"
once per login session. Subsequent attempts respond properly, popping
print widget, etc. but instead of queueing the file, the system just
leaves "decw$printscreen.tmp" (or whatever) in the login directory.
There's no "no such queue" or anything, it just doesn't print it.
Again, the FIRST time they try to do "printscreen", it works fine. Once
it misbehaves, they can logout/in and do one more.
tis a mystery to me...
I gave them the workaround to "capture portion of screen", and then use
a "print .ps file" mb2 facility I've provided. It actually saves the
bother of a dialogue with the print widget (which bugs many people due
to it's 2-layered process; it makes doing a simple print cumbersome -
hence my dcl procedures), so this is non-urgent, but I'd still like to
solve it, since our absolutely toughest customer (real programmers
don't use windows!) is the guy who found it.
