| Are you talking DECwindows? I did not know it worked at all! Assuming that
it does, have you tried the Customize menu under pointer? There is a slow/medium
fast setting for the mouse.

| Yes, running VMS053-1. It works. It is not a quesiton of speed, but
of movement of the mouse to achieve a certain linear movement of the
pointer on the screen. The round mouse causes a larger cursor movement
than the old rectangular one. Does not work well in FLIGHT! This is a
very old VAXstation II at a customer site. - Fred

That's the "speed."
What kind of surface are you using the mouse on? The old mouse had a
steel ball which might slip on some surfaces. Try using a mouse pad or
some other rubbery surface to see if that helps.

3248.4 | New mouse, old VAXstation? | ALOSWS::MULLER | Fred Muller | Wed Sep 05 1990 18:45 | 8 |
| The "speed" of the old mouse (VS10X-EA) on the VAXstation II (VS21V-A2) is not
a function of the smooth steel ball or smooth surface.
New question: Plugging a new mouse (VSXXX-AA) into the connector to the tube
does not work. Is there anyway to do it?

Yup,
There was an ECO for the QVSS but they did not retrofit all the boards in the
field. If you can find a REV C QVSS you can use the round mouse.
The problem is that REV A QVSS (the other popular variant) only support the
quad mouse and don't have a serial port.
