3223.0. "bdf format fonts" by LARVAE::MOORE_A (Dont Worry- Its only 1's and 0's) Fri Aug 17 1990 12:11

    Hi

    I'm having a rather frustrating time trying to get a PC based
    X Server (XVision from Visionware) running with our applications.

    I have had some success with a few applications - largely due to
    a comprehensive fonts.alias file found elsewhere in this
    conference. I still have problems with dxterm and decwrite bl2 because
    of their expectations of DEC font availability.

    XVision has the ability to take on new fonts in bdf format which
    I think would solve the majority of my problems.

    Does anyone know where I can get hold of the fonts that dxterm
    and decwrite need in .bdf format?

    Regards

3223.1Get the MIT X11 R4 tapeSTAR::VATNEPeter Vatne, VMS DevelopmentFri Aug 17 1990 15:594
The MIT X11 R4 tape has all the fonts needed to work with the fonts.alias file.
They are distributed in BDF format.

Perhaps someone else can point him to an on-line copy of the R4 tape?

    DECwrite V1.1 also ships the BDF's needed for the equation editor.

3223.3I Found 'em!LARVAE::MOORE_ADont Worry- Its only 1's and 0'sTue Aug 21 1990 05:4816
    In answer to my own question!!!

    The MIT X11 R4 tapes - which contain .bdf format fonts - are on
    two nodes:

    decwrl
    decuk

    - both Ultrix systems.
    Look in the file decwrl::/pub/X11/R4/README for information about
    how to copy the tapes and build a system.

    Regards
