I customer got some VT1000 and want to open displays on them from an application they have written. But how can they open a display with XOpenDisplay and using LAT transport. One colon after host name in XOpenDisplay specifies TCP/IP, and two colons DECnet. Does three colons mean LAT? :-) I understand that they can create the display in DCL with SET DISPLAY but they want to port the application to ELN. And as I understand there is no DCL SET DISPLAY in ELN. Also is it possible to give a name to a VT1000 similar to a DECserver name that they can refer to when opening the display. Or, do they have to use the ethernet address. Regards Sven-Olof Klasson, TSC Sweden

No, ELN doesn't support LAT. In the soon to be released V4.2 we do support TCP/IP transport. /s/ Chuck | |||||

.0 gets at exactly the problem we were trying to solve when we created the SET DISPLAY business. There is not standard syntax beyond : and ::. Now we have LAT and LOCAL as well, and SET DISPLAY is the only way to make those work. Burns |
