| If you installed 4GE, you are two versions behind "the latest". The current
version calls itself 4G1, the previous one was 4HW.
Viewing PostScript documents works fine for me on 4G1 (and on 4HW).

PS will only appear in the list of converters if the XDPS (X Display
Postscript) Extension is on your workstation.
Note that not all versions of VMS provide the XDPS Extension. As a
result when we query the server asking if it's available we omit PS
from the list if we get an error.

| Hi,
.3 is correct DPS works fine in DECwrite but not in CDA! The image on both is
running and displaying on the same workstation.
The command
$ decw$server_extensions/TABLE=decw$server0_table
returns the following...
"DECW$SERVER_EXTENSIONS" = "Adobe-DPS-Extension" (DECW$SERVER0_TABLE)

| Are those really "-" and not "_" in the logical DECW$SERVER_EXTENSIONS? The
correct name is, in fact, the one with "-". However, I just found recently that
the DECW$STARTSERVER we have been shipping has "_". If you have "-" I'm quite
confused.
But none of this really explains what is going on with CDA Viewer. Just
for the heck of it, can you run XDPS$EXAMPLES:psdraw?

3154.6 | CDA VIEWER WORKING now - Nothing Changed...??? | MUTTON::LAMB | Peter Lamb - FSG Santa Clara | Thu Aug 02 1990 19:12 | 23 |
| Hi,
For some reason the viewer is now working with postscript. About the logical
DECW$SERVER_EXTENSIONS, I define it myself so that is probably why it
has "-" instead of "_"
I just tried to run PSDRAW and get the following error.
_MUTTON::> run psdraw

I imagine this has something to do with an initalization file but I'll keep
playing with it (I'd love to get it working!!)

left in that reference to my disk somewhere. Try XDPS$EXAMPLES:PSDRAW.COM.

extension. Check to make sure you have the following file:

| Is the workstation as well as the client running V5.4? They both have to be.
If they are, then on the workstation, look at
SYS$MANAGER:DECW$SERVER_0_ERROR.LOG.
The first time you try to use DPS, you should see an entry that looks like
this:
10-OCT-1990 17:28:58.8 Extension DECW$SVEXT_Adobe_DPS_Extension successfully lo.
If the load failed, you will see a message telling why. If you don't have the
message at all, that means you are either not looking at the right log or some
such.
Oh, another thing...check around in both the client and server sides in
SYS$SPECIFIC:[SYSLIB] to make sure you don't have some old DPS files there.
(I never should have made BL5 so it could install in private roots!)

Hmmmm.
When i do a view/format=ps mill.ps on a vs2000 running v5.4 i recieve
the error "%CDA-E-ICVNOTFND, input converter not found" but when i
bringup the CDA viewer application I see the ps selection and it works.
Is view/format=ps incorrect? It lists it under help.

| re: -1. I wasn't specifying inter=decwindows since i was on a
workstation, i assumed that like some applications (notes) that if your
on a workstation and you typed view/format=ps it would automatically
use decwindows as notes does....
It does however work with the view/format=ps/interface=decwindows.
thanks for all the replies...
