3115.0. "** Disappearing DECterm windows **" by TOOK::MCCAULEY () Mon Jul 23 1990 15:36
I'm coming across a fairly repeatable DECWindows problem which I hope
someone here can help me with. If this has been addressed somewhere
else, feel free to point me there...
Briefly, the scenario is between 8 to 10 DECterm windows in use,
and I do a 'set screen 132' while editing on one of the DECterm
windows. And, POOF!, all my DECterm windows disappear. The Session
Manager window is still intact, but I have lost everything else.
I have tried adjusting most of my AUF process quotas, but to no
avail. Does anyone have any idea what is going on, or, better yet,
how to resolve this??
This makes for one helluva frustrating day!
Thanks,
Laura

Correction: the previous note should read 'UAF' (not AUF) process
quotas.

I think I ran accross this problem in the DECterm notes file
HANNAH::DECW$DISK:[PUBLIC]DECTERM. You may want to cross post there.

What's probably happening is that DECterm is crashing because it's running
out of memory. There is some relief for this problem in VMS V5.4: instead
of crashing, DECterm will ignore the resize request.
Rather than increasing your UAF quotas, you need to increase your
PQL_DPGFLQUOTA in SYSGEN.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Is that SYSGEN parameter modifiable
at runtime (i.e. dynamic)?

Yes, it's dynamic (at least that's what I told me when I ran SYSGEN).
