they can create files in their own directory.

| These were the first things I checked Ian but all was OK, he could create
files no problem. There were other DECW files in his directory too such as
DECW$SM.LOG, and DECW$SM_COLOR.DAT.
I'm still stumped

| What has changed between the time users could successfullysave, and
now? Have you checked logical names, and login command files?

| You might try to have the user rename all the DECW$SM*.DAT files to something
else (DECW$SM*.HLD). Then try to make the changes and save them.
Just a guess...

3098.6 | Check logical device name!! | OSLLAV::AGE_P | Aage Ronning , Oslo/Norway, DTN 873-0508 | Thu Aug 16 1990 08:07 | 16 |
| Hi,
I just had a customer with the same symptoms: He was able to create files, run
DECW$calendar .... , but SAVE gave the message: "ERROR WRITING RECOURSE FILE"
After checking all the obvious things like protection and ownership, I found
that the logical for his device name DISK2 was in his process table and not in
the system table as usual. He was only doing a define in SYLOGIN.COM.
So the SESSION MGR was not able to see his SYS$LOGIN, but the user could create
files as much as he wanted.
Hope this is your problem too !!
