3050.0. "Change background shade of DECterm window?" by BABBLE::KAHN () Mon Jul 09 1990 12:38

I need help in setting the DECterm window background shade on my 3200AI.
The session manager changes shade when I change the settings but
not the DECterm windows. They are a bright, shimmering white that
I can't look at without getting headaches.

My neighbor has a 3500 and when she changes her settings, they change
    in the DECwindows.

    We are running VMS V5.0.

Can anyone who has had experience with this problem suggest how
    to fix it?

    Thanks.

Re: .0

The colors you set in the session manager only apply to future DECterm windows,
not to the ones you current have open. Assuming that you know this, edit
your sys$login:decw$terminal_default.dat file and remove any definitions for
the foreground and background color; these will over-ride the colors you
set in the session manager.

I'd say you are running a later version of VMS than that.. Please make
sure to give the correct info such as version of software so that
folks can get a better idea of how to help you.

Thanks, Bob. I deleted the entire line; deleting just the value
    didn't make a difference.

Also, we are running VMS 5.3, not 5.0 as I said at first.

Oops, I should have noticed that! DECwindows didn't come out until V5.1.
The version number didn't affect my answer, so I didn't pay any attention to
it.
