Connect Console in Decw$devices gives error ------------------------------------------- After upgrading a M/VAXII to VMS V5.3 and installing DECWINDOWS to run VT1000 TERMINAL, the sysgen parameter WINDOW_SYSTEM is set to 1. On booting, the command procedure DECW$DEVICES is called, and due to what appears to be an oversight, it contains an unconditional gosub to label connect_console where upon a connect console is performed and fails with the error VAX/VMS host system MODEM NOT WIRED CORRECTLY . The reason I say an oversight is that the return values from the lexical F$GETSYI for CPU and XCPU are the same for a VSII as a M/VAXII. Regards Mark Farrow-smith (UK CSC VMS Support)

re: gives error MODEM NOT WIRED CORRECTLY >- >After upgrading a M/VAXII to VMS V5.3 and installing DECWINDOWS to run >fails with the error VAX/VMS host system MODEM NOT WIRED CORRECTLY . See also Note # 369 in CSS::MODEMS. VMS 5.3 has been changed to require the use of additional modem control signals, as compared to earlier versions of VMS. If the cable has not been checked as yet, it should be. -BobE |
