3020.0. "Change "Start Session" message." by JANUS::DBATES (Ho hum) Fri Jun 29 1990 14:02

How can you change the message on the login screen from "Start Session"
I know I've done this under 5.2 VMS but can't see how to do it under
5.3 as the file has been changed. Can anyone point me in the right
    direction ?

    Cheers
    David

3020.2The Start Seesion message on the login screenDIBDIB::DBATESHo humMon Jul 02 1990 06:209
Thanks for the reply, but I mean the message "Start Session" on the initial
login screen. I don't believe you can customize this on an individual basis
as at the point the message is displayed, no one has logged in.
I want to set it on a cluster wide basis so it says "Start session on
cluster xyz"

Thanks

Why not just trash the DIGITAL logo and put something up that
says what cluster it is instead?

  $ define/sys/exec decw$login_background do_this_instead.com

Where do_this_instead.com is a com file that executes _any_ program.

Normally you'd want to run a program that will set the background pixmap
to something or open a window with some other logo or such.

For more on this you should check out the DECWINDOWS_EXAMPLES conference.
