Hi people, I need to open a borderless windows with no buttons or drag bar. Is there a request I can give to the window manager so I get a bare bones window? And if so how would I get access to other windows thru my "buttonless" window? Or :- Could I open a window larger than the screen size and position that window so that the borders would be off screen? Walter.

Setting the override-redirect window attribute causes the window manager to ignore a window. You do have to do all the window manager stuff yourself, though, including managing input focus. Alternatively, some window managers have a (non-standard) facility for specifying which windows should receive which window decorations, etc. MWM, the Motif window manager, can do this. I don't think DXWM can. Ken |
