Hi, Is there a way to have the 'real' v1 uil compiler available under v5.3 of vms ? Because compiling /VERSION=V1 on a v5.3 system produces UID-files which are useless on v5.2 and v5.1 machines (yes I know what you are thinking... but try to understand that I need to be able to run v5.3 but still produce UID files for 'older' systems without compiling the UIL-files on the 'older' systems...). Anyway something that is not really clear to me: if I compile my UIL-file /VERSION=V1 , is it supposed to 'run' on v5.2 (or v5.1) machines ? or are there (documented) restrictions ? Thanks. Dirk.

The V1 switch allows you to compile strings with /n into compound strings. Nothing more nothing less. Any uid file compiled with a V5.3 compiler is going to work on V5.3, but may not work on a prior version. Binky |
