This note is cross posted in the DECwindows, X and ULTRIX notesfile. The European Economic Community (big customer) wants to write X applications able to use greek language. The only greek characters I found in the UWS distribution are in the Symbols fonts and in the MIT grk-s25 or grk-s30. Do you know where I can find grek fonts (preferably according to the character set 4 defined in /usr/include/cda_def.h: #define CDA$K_ISO_LATIN_GREEK 4 /* ISO Latin-Greek (ISO 8859-7) */ ) in different size, different thickness (normal and bold), etc. Thanks for any help, Bernard

Bernard - Greek handling on the X is as follows: - The fonts exist for VMS, a conversion to ULTRIX would involve a copy and a compile, nothing more. The fonts that exist are terminal fonts only not the other 200+ fonts. They support DEC-Greek only, not ECMA (ISO-Latin7). - Nothing has been written using this greek font, although our customers are using it with COBOL/GENERATOR and various other tools. I am using it with all available tools. AGAIN this is VMS and DEC-Greek only. - ISO-Latin7 handling will be at a later date. - ULTRIX handling with both font sets will be at a later date. - Compound strings have yet to be utilized with Greek. These are approximately 24 font files that may not be up to perfection yet but they will be as soon as I can find the time. For everybodies information there is a VMS/DECTerm available that supports Greek it is not for general release, but it is available for special requests. An ULTRIX version will be available soon, I need time on the ULTRIX machine. Any and all localization questions should be directed to my self.
