hello, in ultrix decwindows we have under /usr/bin two programs: xwd and xwud. a) what exactly do these programs do? b) is there a documentaion in our standard ultrix docu about these two programs? c) is there a MIT documentation arround? d) is there a vax/vms functional- and data compatible equivalent? thanks for infos infos are needed for a hp-based customer which is about to switch towards our risc systems. peter

There doesn't seem to be any documentation on xwd and xwud in the UWS doc set. Both programs come from the MIT X distribution. xwd dumps an X window to a file and xwud undumps it (recreates the screen image). There are man pages in the MIT distribution. The xwd file format is documented in /usr/include/X11/XWDFile.h. Ken | |||||

VMS versions are available at CVG::SYS$GAMES:[ATHENA_X11.X.CLIENTS.client] where client is one of XWD or XWUD. If you want to build from source, then you'll need other files in CVG::SYS$GAMES:[ATHENA_X11.X...]*.* | |||||
