| XView source code is on the X11R4 tape from MIT. The documentation is
*XView Programming Manual*, Volume 7 in the X Window System book set
from O'Reilly & Associates. XView is sort of like the Xt intrinsics
combined with a widget set that supports Open Look. It is generally
less powerful and more difficult to use than the X Toolkit, but it does
support an API similar to the old SunView toolkit. It's popular with
people porting applications from SunView and with people who don't like
the prices and licensing restrictions of Motif and the AT&T Open Look
widget set. It's fairly easy to get running on Ultrix and I hear there
is a port to VMS going, but I don't know any real users using XView on DEC machines.

> XView....port to VMS
Sun has contracted TGV (aka Two Guys and a VAX) of Santa
Cruz, Calif. to do the port.

Pressure has been mounting on Sun to support the Xt intrinsics.
At Xhibition 90 in San Jose last week, they announced that
the next major release of OpenLook/XView will support Xt!
In another news at Xhibition, Bill Joy said with a straight
face that, 3rd party 'friends' of Sun would be offering Motif
on Sun machines....in response to Motif hecklers.
A kit pointer to an XView kit for ULTRIX was announced in
Subway::Motif by Mills Ripley.

Re .2 -
Can you be more specific about TGV (?) or the "two guys"?
Do you know how I can get in touch with them? Thanks,
- Andrew
