  problem:

we are doing distributed debugging across
development sites (colorado and nh). we would
like to set up an environment whereby people
at one site could dedicated a terminial
(or decwindow) to a debugging session at the
other site (to watch the other person progress
through his code with the debugger).

basically this boils down to directing
sys$output to multiple terminals (or windows).

is there some way to do this?

Not in general, but I did hear of one or two people
attempting to write a "T-pipe" attachment for a
DECwindows link. The intention of this was to do
exactly what you want - take output from an application
that's talking to one window, and split it into
two copies.

I don't know if anyone ever got it to work, it's a hard
thing to do.

Try asking in the DECwindows notes file - BULOVA::DECWINDOWS,
last time I looked.

(This was an unsupprted hack idea, not part of anything that's
 supported).

You should check out note 878 in the X notesfile (on RDVAX, I think).
