One of our customers is using PHIGS on VS3520 running VMS 5.3-1 .

He experienced a DECWINDOWS server hang when trying to use his
application on the PEX server (PHIGS$WSTYPE=221).

I've read about CSC patch (DECWSERVER$PATCH01_530) which solves
some VS3520/40 server hang. I've read that it should apply
to VMS 5.3 only. Can this patch applied to VMS 5.3-1 also?
(The customer has another disk that he can use as system
for checking the patch only.)

	Any help will be appreciated

	The patch cannot be applied to V5.3-1, as the problem was fixed in VMS V5.3-1. If your customer is running SSB V5.3-1 and is still having problems, then it's either a different problem or something went wrong with the upgrade. It may be helpful to obtain the kit, unpack it, and look at the VUP file that comes with it. Inside, you'll see the instruction it replaces. You'll be able to compare this to the image the customer's running. The image map is the same between V5.3 and V5.3-1 at that point in the code, so maps won't be necessary. If you have further problems, I'd suggest you contact your CSC for help. Rob Lembree

	I know this isn't the proper note, but I'm looking for the patch to prevent the server crash on the SPX. Can someone supply a pointer? Thanks, Mike (moderator can move this to the proper note, I couldn't find it)

	I know it is in the CSCs, but I don't have it. It should be fixed in V5.4, if that is any help to you. Burns

	Ask your CSC to get you patch DECWSERVER$PATCH02_053. This patch fixes the scanproc server crash problem.
