2823.0. "Paused screen won't allow login" by HPSRAD::LINDSEY () Fri May 25 1990 17:23
I have a user that's password is getting munged up and the decwindow's
paused window will not allow her to log in. She can log in from a
terminal into the system with no problem using the same password.
She is sure that at least by the 3 or 4th try her password was right,
but decwindows wasn't letting her in.
My question is this - what could be the cause of the password getting
altered upon logging into the decwindows paused screen - (she is aware
about the return key issuing a login error).
Secondly, by now she is seen as a break-in intruder - where is the
login failures for the paused screen kept? It does not show up in her
sysuaf record. Also what are the parameters used in DECwindows to
determine when a login fail is a break-in and how long does the
disallowing of logins continue (in spite of typing in the correct
password)? Is it the same as what the sysuaf record uses in VMS?
(i.e. lgi_retry_lim, lgi_brk_term, etc)
Thanks,
Sue

| Login to a privileged account on the workstation.
SHOW INTRUSION should display the breakin source.
Use DELETE/INTRUSION to clear breakin evasion for that source.
