2816.0. "Anybody heard of a TEKTRONIX 4105?" by VAOU02::GMURRAY () Thu May 24 1990 22:56

Howdy,

Anybody know of a TEKTRONIX 4105 terminal emulator that runs under UIS or
Windows ? I am posting this note is both conferences.

Apparently, one can emulate this beast with a VT-100 with a "Selanar" board ?

There are two TEK terminal emulators with UIS, but neither of them seem to
function the same as a 4105.

Thanks,
Geoff.

    VWS provides a simple TEK4010/14 emulation and also provides a TEK4125.
    The 4105 is probably a relation of the 4125. Most of the TEK tubes
    look like one or the other of these.

    DECwindows does not provide 4010/14 - but it can be obtained from the
    MIT kit as part of XTERM. There is a DECwindows 4125 still in Field
    Test which is a decendent of the same source as the UIS TEK4125.

4125 emulation for DECwindows is in field test, and the kits are available
for online testing.

I'll give brief info here. If you need more info, you might as well join
our 4125 notes file. Send me your node::user and first, last name so I
can add you to notes file.

For both ultrix and vms, all the files needed are in

	level::dw4125$kits:

If you want to run on ultrix, use file

	pull_dw4125_to_ultrix

If you want vms, the pak is in

	make_pak.com

and the vmsinstalable kit is

	dw4125010.a.

The user/install manual is there too, see the .txt and .ps files.

p.s.	I'm not exactly sure what a tek 4105 is. People keep asking me
	if the 4125 emulator will support the 4xyz. Can anyone point me
	at some sort of comparison chart for tek terminals ? Thanks.

/Eric
