2815.1 | Need to set the terminal ID to VT340? | HANNAH::MESSENGER | Bob Messenger | Fri May 25 1990 12:10 | 10 |
| Re: .0
I like those "user-friendly" error messages...
DECterm supports most but not all of the graphics functions of the VT340. I
think the GKS problem you're seeing might be due to the terminal identification
that DECterm is reporting to GKS. Try setting the Terminal ID to VT340 in
DECterm's Customize/General dialog box.

It's more likely that GKS is set up for DECwindows. It's startup
command installs things for "regular VMS", VWS and DECwindows
workstations. Probably some GKS logical names that need to be
tweaked.

| BTW the GKS notesfile would probably give you better answers.

| Thanks for all the input. I have set the DECterm ID to VT340, and I
don't believe logical names are the problem since the application
determines the device it is running on via GETDVI and uses the
appropriate parameters in the GKS calls. Both the DECterm window and
a VT340 respond as a VT300 series terminal, but only the VT340 will run
the application correctly.
Regarding .3, I also placed an inquiry in the GKS notes file...thanks.
