I've a problem developing a prototype for a customer where BL1 Motif for RISC and Oracle v6.0 should cohexist. The application creates a Motif interface and contains SQL statements in order to access the Oracle database. Unfortunately I can't make it work. As soon as I add the DB part to the application, it crashes giving an error message like: Connection #3 to server closed Broken pipe (or something like this). Unfortunately I'm not a Unix system programmer and hence it's very difficult for me to give more details to describe the error unless someone asks me for something specific. Has anyone already faced such a problem? Can anyone give me an help? Thanks a lot, Matteo

I don't know why you get into trouble. To avoid the problems I would have split the program in two (client/server) and use DECrpc (remote procedure calls) between them (I don't know how well DECrpc and Oracle would go together either). The client would handle the Motif user interface and call the server via DECrpc which would do the database access. Olav |
