2803.0. "translation table in .Xdefaults" by CSCOA3::HOOD_DO () Tue May 22 1990 14:32
I have several customers that would like to rebind key events
to ascii strings using a translation table in .Xdefaults.
The Ultrix documentatation , X(1X), states:
"A function specification can also include a character in single
quotation marks or a string in double quotation marks. A string in
quotation marks instructs the application to insert the specified
string into the file"... it goes on to give an example.
After trying many examples, I simply cannot get it to work. Every other
X programming book that I have consulted states clearly that the
production rule in a translation table should be key:function. Is
Ultrix DECwindows supposed to have some sort of built in mechanism to
detect strings in the function portion of a translation, and then invoke a
function to place the string into the file? Does anyone have an
example that works? Any thoughts on the problem would be greatly
appreciated.
