When running DWDOS386 on a DECstation 320, I am experiencing the following problem with the keyboard mapping: 1) I create a DECterm window on the DECwindows host VAX to access DCL. 2) I then run $SET HOST to login to a larger VAX system running ALL-IN-1 version 2.3. 3) When in ALL-IN-1, the WPSPLUS editor function keys do not work. The GOLD key, alias the NUMLOCK key, and various other WPSPLUS keys are not defined properly (the GOLD key just functions as a NUMLOCK for example). 4) I tried running OA$LIB:A1WPSPLUS_IBMPC.COM before invoking ALL-IN-1 with no effect. How do the WPSPLUS function keys get defined? I am using the DEC 101-key enhanced PS/2 keyboard. NOTE: Using SETHOST to connect to the VAX running ALL-IN-1 does set up the function keys properly, but this is very different from having a DECwindows window on your PC running ALL-IN-1. Your help is much appreciated, Lyndon Handy MIS Systems Operations Toronto, Ontario DTN 631-7257

2800.1 | LK201 Emulation...not X-serving | SPCTRM::GORCZYCA | Tue May 22 1990 22:23 | 20 | |
re: .0 What you WANT is a keysym file that maps your IBM 101 keys to those of an LK201. What you're using as your keysym file is not that. Remember that PC DECwindows is a DOS X-server, not a "Digital Workstation Emulator". We recognize your dilemma, however, and are taking steps to address this issue with our PC server, since applications like DECTERM have not seen fit to do so. Please re-post your question in the PC DECwindows notes file (RANGER::PCDECWINDOWS), and help will be on the way shortly. It will also help if you can list those keys on the LK201 that WPS needs that the IBM 101 keyboard doesn't have...that way folks will be able to provide better help. Finally, this whole issue is discussed in Appendix D of the PC DECwindows User's Guide, but don't expect any magic cures...at this point it is really an end-user or client-application issue. John |
