I have a problem when trying to start FILEVIEW from my session manager window. When I select CREATE FILEVIEW WINDOW the session window displays "Starting FileView". A few seconds later I get the following message: FileView stopped : no condition handler found. I've had this problem since I installed VMS 5.2 on my VAXstation 3100. (approximately 6 months ago!) I can get FILEVIEW to work by spawning DECW$STARTVUE.COM from DCL. However, I have been having some flaky problems with my windows and do not trust that my work around is safe. I would like this issue ASAP since it is driving me CRAZY! Help?

Try checking your login command files, maybe for an INQUIRE,if nothing obvious is found bypass the login files... Usually a good place to start. GC.

Thanks!!!! I had a .com file executing from my .login that was using an INQUIRE. What relationship would an INQUIRE have with starting FILEVIEW and why did that cause the problem????

There has been alot of discussion on this in this notes file, and many others..see note 620 in the DECterm notes file. I'll leave it upto the "specialists" to answer the quaestion in more detail. Hope that helps a little. GC. BTW. The behaviour regarding INQUIRE has changed for V2.0 of decwindows (VMS 5.3).
