2742.0. "SPX switch settings, documentation?" by MAZE::FUSCI (DEC has it (on backorder) NOW!) Wed May 09 1990 18:18

We've just received some new workstations with SPX graphics. When we
plugged them in, the monitor would not sync up. I eventually got them to
work by randomly changing the switch settings on the back of the SPX.

Even though we got these workstations from IEG, they did not ship with any
documention whatsoever about the SPX.

If anyone has documentation about the SPX, could you please post the
meaning of the switch settings? Also, could you please post an order
number for the SPX hardware documentation?

If you tried to use the VR160/VR290/VR299 on the SPX, and it switches
were set wrong, you'd get whjat you saw.

The following is the switch settings on the SPX module for the proper monitor:

For the VR160,VR290 and VR299 and VR297 monitors:

switches should be in the OFF postition.

For the VRT19 monitor:

Switches should be in the ON postition.

(note that switch pack would be on your left lower side, with the
   non-component side facing you.)

hope this helps.

Also,

you can order EK-WS01X-OS-001 to get the owners manual for the SPX.

re: .1, .2

Strangely enough, all three came from IEG with with the switches set to
(off,on).

(My order for the manual is already placed.)

well actually one of the switches is unused (the bottom one in my
previous example), but it is easy to explain flipping both.
