Has anyone ever seen this error message before?
Also what is a GVAX?
Configuration:
VS3520, VMS 5.2, Phigs 2.0A, Decwindows/Fortran applications
Problem:
While running applications the decwindows server will crash
occasionally
Crash ==> Decwindows goes away, blank screen,
username prompt upon hitting return.
Take a look into DECW$SERVER_0_ERROR.log the error states:
'GVAX has no heartbeat and is presumed dead'

yes, it is a known error and will require a VMS upgrade. This has been
posted in the PHIGS conference and the FIREFOX conferences. I do not
recall which notes in particular though...sorry.

On the VS3520/40 this is the Low End Graphics Sub System (LEGSS). The
LEGSS is comprised of a CVAX and a Wietek 3 chip set for frame buffer
and 3D graphics processing.
The configuration on our (ok...the customers) VS3520's is VMS 5.3 with
VMS V5.3-1 server and transports only. DEC PHIGS V2.1 (SSB).
